This is Dorothy.
Ryan came home one night when Alenna was really sick with this little 10 cent fish to make her feel better. I just kind of thought, 'okay, here we go," thinking it would die within a week and than we'd have an upset child to explain death to.
Yeah. That was a YEAR & A HALF AGO!
Who would've thought a little crappy 10 cent fish would live so so so long???
Its not even a Beta or a salt water fish! Its literally a fish from Walmart.
This fish has lived through some nights of being fed, water level being very low, and a move.
I cannot believe it and Alenna has long lost interest in her, of course.
I just find it funny everyday I go in to fed it, expecting it to be dead and she's still swimming!
Does anyone know how long these silly things live for???

Fish are smelly...LOL i have no idea how long they live for.
That's hilarious! We've had terrible luck with fish and everything we've bought dies within a week or two. I've given up. Maybe you have a friend who has a tank and you can contribute your fish to it.
I've decided every animal is stinky. I hate them all equally, haha, and ryan is trying to talk me into living on a farm! Psh, like THAT'S going to happen! LOL
Wow, I have no clue how long they are suppose to live. I thought the same thing as far as explaining a death to Nikholi when we got his first fish. Of course, his is a Beta. I'm also shocked the thing is still living. Nikholi named him Goldy and he's definetly the most stinky fish I've ever had, but then again maybe it's because Roger used to always change the water in our semi-agressive tropical tank; we got rid of that when we moved cross country. Our next animal will be another kitten within the next month or so. lol
OMG I know what you mean. We won a fish around easter and then bought one. The boughten one died but the one we won is still going strong and I always expect him to die. Oh well! Here is to you "Sinky" as Josalyn named him.
